The full breakdown of all ISL seasons - the clubs, the matches, the swims… And much more!
Each ISL season followed a structured progression, with the format evolving year to year to facilitate more intense competition and league development. Traditionally, the campaigns were split into three phases: a regular season, in which teams faced off across multiple matches to accumulate points and jockey for postseason positioning; a playoff or qualification stage, which trimmed the field down to a smaller group of championship contenders; and a Grand Final, where the remaining teams competed head-to-head in a winner-takes-all showdown for the title.
Beyond the team competition, the ISL also became a proving ground for individual brilliance, producing world records, breakout stars, and a fierce rivalry as athletes competed for the title of Season MVP.
Rivalries between clubs and the star swimmers who anchored them became central to the league's identity, elevating a sport often confined to podiums and stopwatches into genuine team drama.
Below, you can learn more about the first three seasons of the ISL, each of which brought its own format twists, subplots and record-breaking performances.
